My role & contribution
Senior UX Designer. I worked with a Lead UX Designer as well as a team of copywriters, visual designers, project managers, producers, etc. Beginning with crafting research questions in the discovery phase to putting together a user flow, and slowly getting into sitemap creation followed by continuously iterating through wireframes. Post wireframing, I helped with documenting functional annotations and other immediate UX queries moving forward.

Problem Statement:

How can we utilize modern technology to create an alternative solution for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), also known as depression.

Design Process

This project can be broken down into 3 phases: Initial Research and Discovery, Ideation / Wireframing, and Post-Wireframing (Hand-off)

Initial Research and Discovery

  • Understanding and learning more about Major Depressive Disorder and the people it affects.

  • Creating research questions for HCP’s and patients to gather more insights via user interviews. Observing user interview sessions.

Ideation & Wireframing

  • Site mapping for both Patient and HCP websites.

  • Crafting a user flow for the chatbot feature within the site using FigJam.

  • Using a component library within Figma to put together wireframes.

Post - Wireframing (Hand-off)

  • Working with visual design to create documentation through functional annotations

  • Continuously consulting, iterating, and addressing any queries or updates for UX deliverables

Initial Research & Discovery

During this phase, I was able to analyze informational slide decks and research on MDD to educate myself before moving forward. This allowed me to begin the process of writing interview questions targeted towards HCP’s and patients that deal with depression.

Additional Research:
Competitive Analysis for Chatbot feature

Another aspect of this project was to look into different ways of solving the design of the chatbot experience. I spent time looking up other industry examples while documenting the resulting insights.

Next Stop: Let the creativity flow!

Ideation & Wireframing

Based off of the insights and data being compiled from the previous phase, I started to get my hands dirty and get into designing the site maps, wireframes, and chatbot user flow.

Final Stop: More iterations, documentation, and moving forward

Post-wireframing & Hand-off

After working through the wireframes and collaborating with copywriters while simultaneously working through the chatbot deliverables, I got to assist with creating functional annotations, wireframe edits, and any other UX problems.

Ta da! A couple of rough prototypes

The visual designers on my team took some time to put together
the following rough prototypes using Figma.

What’s next?

  • Upon hand-off to the visual design team, iterating of the copy and wireframes continued based off of client and PRC feedback.

  • Eventually, we started to put together an iVA (interactive visual aid) for HCP’s that focused on converting and optimizing content from the HCP site for an iPad product. The project is currently ongoing

  • Development and further testing has gotten started and will continue on through the end of 2023.

Resolution, Reflection & Impact

  • This project allowed me to learn new tools, Figma and FigJam, to work within design systems, component libraries and to improve collaboration methods with other departments and experts.

  • As of summer 2025, the client continues to push advertising and marketing efforts towards the product. The pharmaceutical industry sees this project as a huge, innovative win.

  • The Rejoyn app was cleared by the FDA in May of 2024 as the first app to treat depression.

  • Rejoyn officially launched in August 2024 and was featured in a TIMES article on October 2024!! WHOOOOP!! View article here.
